Southbook Stormwater Pond A Construction

Client:Waimakariri District Council Consultant:Opus International Consultants Ltd Contract Value:1.6m

Central Reserve Driving Pit between Lineside Road and Main South Trunk Railway

January, 2012 - May, 2012

This project required a wide range of specialist skills including insitu concrete structures, drainage, continuous dewatering, earthworks, including impervious clay liner construction, trenchless pipe installations and landscaping.

The key component of this project invloved a partnering approach which lead to extensive negotiation with the Client to meet project cost expectations. As Contractor HCL reviewed and redesigned trenchless pipe installations using innovative techniques to provide substantial cost savings. Without these cost savings the project would have not progressed.

These revised methodologies and design alterations mitigated numerous risks such as pending inclement weather as winter approached and enabled simultaneous work on multiple phases of the project. This ensured the project was completed on time and also under the negotiated contract price.
