This project formed a critical part of the Christchurch Water Supply. As subcontractor to Fulton Hogan, Hunter Civil is responsible for the complete mechanical pipework and Pump Station package. These works are required to be completed on a limited access steep hill site with significant rock breaking and demolition to both install pipework through the existing reserves and also connect to existing reservoir pipework systems.
This involved the following scope:
- Supply and installation of 600mm, 450mm, 250mm 150mm Concrete Lined steel and PE pipework, complete with valve chambers, overflow structures and flow meters
- Construction of new pump station building, complete with power supply, transfer of existing electrical components and fit out
- Civil works involving Earthworks, Right of Way construction, landscaping and drainage.
This is a challenging project with very tight timeframes, due to the onset of summer and the imminent water shortages brought about by extensive damage to the city's water wells
